Karachi Cop goes inside the battle for control of Karachi, Pakistan’s vast financial and commercial capital. Home to more than 20 million people and responsible for a major share of the country’s wealth, the city is also shaped by political violence, sectarian tension, organised crime and the threat of Taliban militancy.
The film follows the police as they try to hold the line in a city many fear is sliding towards anarchy. Working alongside the army and intelligence services, officers carry out raids, arrests and armed operations against criminal gangs and militant networks.
The documentary brought together Karim Shah, Eki Rrahmani and Shad Khan as a filmmaking team, combining frontline access, investigative storytelling and strong visual journalism.
Part urban thriller and part political investigation, Karachi Cop examines the human cost of policing one of the world’s most volatile megacities, and asks whether force alone can restore order in a city fractured by power, poverty and fear.
